LGBTQ+ Vigil Held For Mass Shooting Victims / Nashville | 11.22.2022
DOWNTOWN NASHVILLE, TN | 11.22.22 | At 6:30 PM on Tuesday evening, local community members from all backgrounds gathered at the Nashville Public Square, located on Union Street, cross of 3rd Ave North in Downtown Nashville for a candlelight vigil, in memory of 5 LGBTQ+ victims killed in a shooting at the Club Q on Saturday night in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Local residents, including Tennessee Senator Heidi Campbell and US Congressional Candidate Odessa Kelly, took to the stage about issues that LGBTQ+ individuals face on a daily basis and about loving each other as human-beings. "We out here, and we want to exist just like everybody else," said Candidate Odessa Kelly, a statement that many hope that does not include fearing of being harmed or killed.
The shooting at Club Q took the lives of 5 and injuring many others. The victims identified as the following; Derrick Rump (38), Ashely Paugh (35), Daniel Aston (28), Kelly Loving (40) and Raymond Green Vance (22).
