Peralta Fire Incident / Riverside | 07.21.2022
RIVERSIDE,CA (7.21.22) On Thursday night, at 9:42pm the Riverside City Fire Department received multiple calls about a fast spreading vegetation fire in the Santa Ana Riverbottom by the Anza Narrows Park. While the first engine was still a mile out, the engineer reported seeing a large column of smoke and seeing a large glow from the fire and immediately requested a 2nd alarm and requested mutual aid from CALFIRE.
Fire crews had an extremely hard time due to the heavy vegetation on the river bottom and took approximately 2 hours before they were able to make access to the fire itself. Due to embers from the fire, a tree at Fairmount park caught fire near the local Legion Outpost. A 2nd alarm was immediately called as a precaution for the near by legion and local neighborhoods. As of Friday morning, the forward rate of the fire has been stopped and the fire is holding at 45 acres.
