Abandoned Building Prompts 3 Alarm Fire, Injuring 1 Firefighter / San Bernardino | 07.29.2020

SAN BERNARDINO, CA | 07.29.2020 | Around 9:48pm tonight, firefighters from the San Bernardino County Fire were on scene of a commercial fire at an abandoned building on 7th Street in San Bernardino.

Firefighters reported back that there was heavy smoke and flames showing and to continue all responding units. The fire grew quickly, prompting a 2 alarm request due to walls and ceilings collapsing on the inside. As firefighters continued to fight the flames, the radio traffic for the SBCoFD came to a halt, only allowing emergency traffic to come thru, this was due to interior problems becoming a hazard to firefighters inside. The emergency traffic remained in place until all firefighters on scene were accounted for.

After long periods of battling the flames, the Incident Commander requested to upgrade to a 3 alarm. At this time, the scene if still on going and the area should be avoided until further notice from officials.

One firefighter is reported to have a minor eye injury and was treated on scene.
